Halloween version 2010

And so the end of October was here and with it brought one of our favorite days of the year, Halloween. It’s becoming more and more epic as the years go on. Honestly I think we encourage Mira’s imagination a bit too much. She’s been talking about being Dorothy ever since last year and who were we to disappoint. Halloween fell on a Sunday this year, which made us kind of happy as we knew that some areas would trick or treat on Saturday and some on Sunday. Double the pleasure as far as we were concerned. Candy is a food group right?

Ethan Brackley, my boss, was kind enough to invite us to his neighborhood to trick or treat with his kids. He’s also got two girls and the youngest was born on the same day as Luna (no joke) and Nora is about a year younger than Mira. Here the group is right before going out.

The girls

Yes, Mira had Toto and was all grins. She gets so excited about this and you can just see how happy she was to meet people and have fun. She’s full of hope that little Miracle of ours.

Dorothy and Toto!

No idea on this one. But some random house had a sign and a trash can outside asking for your candy. Not sure if this was a joke or serious but we weren’t about to give our candy away. Yes, I did look in to see if I could “properly” dispose of thier trash (no luck).

Hmmmm

We decided to recycle the Peanut costume that Mira wore for her first Halloween, you’d be surprised to know that it actually fit like a glove. You gotta love the circus peanut!

Back home we got a bath and we had to snap this picture of the girls together. They were having so much fun and Luna is getting so big!

Bath time!

The next night it was on for real. And as we allow Mira to dream big. She had plans for everyone and had been talking about this day forever. Yes, I was the Scarecrow. Erika was the Tinman. Luna was the Lion and Mira was able to be Dorothy for real at Trick or Treat part two.

We're off to see the wizard!

You’ve gotta love the Cowardly Lion and Dorothy, so happy!

The Lion and Dorothy!

Of course Mira had told Pops and Grammy that they were the apple trees. They looked good!

Apple trees!

Yes, we were serious about this year, Erika was dressed to the nine! I hate to say it, but we really enjoy getting excited and spending these special times with the girls. Their eyes are full of wonder and amazement and I’m fortunate that we get to spend such great time together.

The tin man!

Of course, you can’t expect the Cowardly Lion to roll through the whole thing right? She was asleep by the 5th house.

The lion sleeps tonight!

Of course this was in Muskegon and we went with Erika’s friend Jamie and her husband Lee. Yes, Lee had one of the freakiest costumes every. It was great watching him push around the two babies in a pink stroller. Classic!

Not scary at all…
On the way into town, you should also know that we stopped to eat at Dog n Suds for Luna’s first trip. If you have never been, you should know that they have the best rootbeer floats in the world. Ask Luna, she’s an official convert.

The perfect rootbeer float!

And of course, they make some of the best hot dogs ever also. Mira says this is her favorite restaurant in the world to visit. Yes folks, these are those amazing child adventures and Mira favorite food that she only gets when visiting Grammy and Pop Pops. Great stuff!

No better place!
