Mira’s 3rd Birthday

For a while we had hoped that this day would come. And it did. Our little peanut was turning 3! February 21st is the official day. We had lots of friends here to celebrate: Aunt Z and uncle Alex, Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell and Grammy and Pop Pops Steinberg. A very exciting day.

Erika started the day by letting Mira put on her special birthday tutu, crown and magic wand. I snuck over to the party store and picked her up a few balloons with Alex. She was so excited when she got on her outfit and was able to grab those balloons. Here’s a nice pic of the fun.

How exciting!

How exciting!

She was in rare form and just so happy to see everyone. She’s really starting to get that today is her day and she’s the star of the show. Here’s one of my favorite pics from the party.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Well, it’s actually two pics. I love’em both.

Onto the presents we went. Lots of fun stuff, but one of strangest gifts was a near life size stuffed horse from the Mitchells. What do you do with that? It was nuts. She still plays with it maybe several months later. But not as much as some of the other things she received. However, it’s so random, you just have to see this thing…

Giddy up!

Giddy up!

Of course the picture isn’t enough. I’ve got a video here:

Crazy eh?

Then it was onto her favorite part of the day. The blowing of the candles. She has little and no interest in the cake. You could stick the candles on a live turtle and she probably wouldn’t care. It’s all about the song and then the blowing of the candles. Here’s a video of Mira blowing out the candles. If it doesn’t appear that we are that excited, it’s because this is about the fifh time she got to blow out the candles and it was getting pretty old, pretty fast. However, I’m not sure there is a 3 year old on the planet that didn’t think every lit candle they ever saw deserved to get blown out.

You’ll also notice that Mira was blowing out candles on cupcakes and not real cake. Erika thought it might be a good idea to do cupcakes. They are more fun and keep a little better. Which really translates to, “These are more work than we thought and now I get to enjoy cupcakes for a month.” I’m never going to work off my winter weight this year!

Truly though, the cupcakes were delicious and Mira even tried one (notice that I didn’t say she “ate” one). I, however, ate at least a dozen.

I’m also proud to say that birthday cupcakes that have been spit on by a 3 year old attempting to blow out candles taste the same as birthday cake with the same saliva on top.

It was a wonderful birthday with many happy memories!
