You should know that when Mira was born, Erika bought these three metal pumpkins. And ever year, Erika sits Mira down next to the pumpkins and takes her picture before Halloween. Call it a tradition in the Mitchell family. I’m sure Erika has some grand design for the pictures once all is said and down. No idea what that plan is, but here is Mira shot from this year:
And that means that Luna was also able to join in the Halloween jubilation!
They are good girls and were even nice enough to sit still and allow Erika to get a nice picture with them both.
And fall in Michigan means that football is on. Michigan State is having a stellar season and we were able to get tickets to the game at Northwestern in Chicago this year. Yes, I know it’s strange. Our very good friend, Brenda Cucci, who introduced Erika and I got us the tickets. It was cold, wet and nasty for the first half of the game. But the girls hung in there and it turned into a beautiful fall day by the end of it. Yes, Mira did get to see Sparty and got to take a nice picture with him and Annika (Brenda’s daughter).
MSU won the game and snagged a quick family photo afterwards.
As excited as Erika and I were. I have to admit that Mira and Luna were probably more excited about leaving then staying. We convinced Mira that if she was good, when the clock was all zeros, we could leave. “Is it at zero yet? Daddy, is it at zero yet? Mommy, is it at zero yet?” Repeat if necessary. Comical really. They really were troopers for hanging in there the entire game. And it was the first game for both of them.
Like I said, it turned into an incredible day. Mira started collecting leaves on the long walk back to the car. Here she is all decked out:
And Luna had just as much fun. I had her in the baby bjorn and she got to see everything that was going on. Just as happy as can be!
Ah yes, wonderful fall days in some strange town. Walking by one drunk college alumni after another. Is there any better way to spend a fall day? It was Midwest October at it’s finest. The Northwestern faithful were actually quite behaved and Mira was too busy collecting leaves to notice anyways. Yes, we were in a college town having fun. And yes, we did get a parking ticket. How do you not? But it was a successful day. The Spartans won and Mira got some sweet leaves…
Up next, Halloween fun for the whole family!
