Dr. Starck showed up about 3PM and at 3:48PM our 2nd daughter, Luna Noelle Mitchell was officially born by c-section.
I’ve gotta say that it was truly amazing to actually be in the room and apart of the delivery. She is 6 pounds and 1 ounce and measured 17 3/4 inches. Here’s one of the first pics we took of her:
Yes, we both thought that the baby would probably be a boy. Well, boy were we surprised! After Luna was born and while they cleaned up Erika, I got to have some skin time with the baby. They call it skin time, but really it’s more like hairy chest time if you ask me.
After things were better in the operating room, we moved to the post operating room to make sure everything was good. We snapped a great picture of Erika and Luna while waiting.
We are so happy! That little girl is nice and chubby with a pretty full head of hair.
After a bit they got ready to take Luna and I upstairs to get Luna’s bath and let Erika have a bit more recovery time. Here’s the last pic we took of the family.
Luna got her bath and was able to see Rory, one of Erika’s friends from work. Then Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell arrived just before Grandma and Grandpa Steinberg. It was a full house for about 30-40 hectic minutes while we were still having visiting hours. It’s been about an hour now since everyone left and it’s eerily quiet aside from the occasional squeak from Luna. She has already ate twice and Erika is able to drink liquids only right now.
We are all cozy in our room hoping for an uneventful night. More to come tomorrow with a visit from a few friends and family again.
We’ll snap a few more pictures tomorrow also. Maybe even a video if I can figure out how to get back the Cleveland Clinics network (they’ve blocked me from youtube).
