The day after surgery

4AM we got the wake up call for the cat scan. Mira was remarkable calm for this one. The result of the scan looked like this:

Clearly the hematoma is gone. You can still see some of the swelling on the outside, but it looks good inside the skull.

Back in the room, Mira started acting more normal. She was asking for food and feeling much better, though she was still on pain meds and antibiotics. Here are a few pics of her during the day:

Things began to go smoother as the day progressed. Mira was stepped down in the afternoon to a normal room. It’s funny because we physically moved her up to the 5th floor. But apparently stepped down in a hospital is much different than what normal people think.

Grandma and Grandpa stopped by to see her. And I went home in the afternoon to get ready to head back to work on Thursday morning.

Word from the doctor was that as long as things continued to progress well, Mira would be going home sometime tomorrow. I planned to head into the office tomorrow morning and come back in the afternoon to pick Erika and Mira up and take them home.

True to form, the following day works just as planned. I head over to the hospital around 3PM and pick up Erika and Mira. We have her home by 5PM.

Mira is running around jumping on me and acting like her old self. We can’t believe how quick of a turnaround this is. Everything is just going fantastic. We put Mira to bed around 9PM and she drops right off to sleep…
