Luna turns 1!

You are probably thinking the same thing I am, “No way, Luna is already 1!” Yes it’s true and I must say that the last year has really flown by. But we’ve moved into different states and really Luna makes things so easy. She is always smiling and having a great time. How big has she gotten you may ask? Well, I’ll tell you. She’s soooo big!

So big!

Erika had been planning her birthday party for some time. She decided to have it with her cousin (Allana) in Manistee the Saturday after Thanksgiving. If you know much about our family, you probably know that we goto my hometown for Thanksgiving every year. My parents host dinner and I get to see the cross country alumni from my high school the day after for a short run and football. I’ve been doing this since maybe 1991 or so. The girls had a nice time and even pretended they were Mitchell boys for a few minutes. Here they are wrestling, or maybe they are just sitting together. Either way they were having fun.

We decided to make blueberry pancakes one day and discovered that Luna is absolutely crazy for pancakes. Who knew? Mira just hates pancakes and won’t go near them. I know, what’s not to like about a fried doughy substance dipped in syrup? I can tell you that Luna destroyed the pancakes we gave her.

After she finished the pancakes, we found an easy way to clean her up. Just plop her in a sink full of water and clean away. She just loved that too. Honestly, I’m not sure if there is anything she doesn’t love. Ok, Erika says she cried like crazy when they gave her shots (well maybe for a few minutes anyway).

Luvin the sink.

The day afterwards I headed back to high school for some fun and Erika took the girls in the car for the 4+ hour drive to Manistee. I got there a few hours after Erika, very tired and super sore. Gez, it’s like I’m almost 40!

We had the party at the local township hall and as soon as we got there, Mira was in motion. Every picture I took of her looked like this one. Seriously, the girl wouldn’t slow down. Just so excited about the party and to be playing with other kids. Maybe she was a little stir crazy from the long car ride the day before?

Never stop moving...

Whilst Allana had destroyed her cake, Luna just took her time and sample at her leisure. It was funny because she looked so nice and really didn’t mess up her hair even at the end. Such a sweet little girl.

I will only eat this daintily!

Here’s a great shot of the cousins saying hello!

Cousins at their birthday party.

The party went off great and both of the girls had a great time. Luna official birthday is on December 7th, but we moved the party up to coincide with Allana’s birthday. Once we were home, we had a very small party on December 7th with just the four of us to wish Luna a Happy Birthday. Of course she got to have her favorite, pancakes. And yes she did destroy them.

Happy Birthday to Luna!

Happy Birthday Luna!
