Life with a new baby

Yes, it has been about 4 days since the last update. I’m happy to say that drama has been kept to a minimum lately. You should know that when you get one of these:

Baby Luna!

Baby Luna!

You tend to spend an amazing amount of time doing this:

So tired....

So tired....

And also this:

Shhhh! Sleeping!

Shhhh! Sleeping!

And even some of this:

Quiet! Someone turn off that light!

Quiet! Someone turn off that light!

It hasn’t been all naps and snoozing though. Mira has been surprisingly very interested in getting attention lately. I can’t imagine why. But there was a gingerbread house decorating contest that we had the other day. I snapped a picture whilst the contestants were engaged in the heat of the battle:

Let's do this!

Let's do this!

Take a look at the final entries. One was completed by a 3 year old, the other by a 30 something. I bet you can’t guess who did which!!!

Tell me which kid is doin his own thing!

And then there was also the hundreds of repetitive games played of hide-n-seek. Our version is slightly different than the original version. You must tell the person where you intend to hide before they begin counting. And it’s very possible that your hiding place may be changed based on where Mira believes she should be looking to find you. And if you happen to be looking for Mira, it’s very possible that she will always be found in the same place. Where is that you may ask. Well, of course it’s in the little cubby by the fireplace that is filled with blankets…

Yes, she does love Santa!

Mira and Darcy also had a sausage eating contest at the breakfast table one morning. Standard issue monster jammies were required for this particular contest.

Sausage is delicious

And what visit from another young relative would be complete without the usual “dual bath time” photos.

Fun in the bath!

Now that Luna is here. Mira has never looked so big. It feels like she’s gonna be going to prom next week I swear. Such a big girl.

We had 2 doctor appointments today. Luna is almost back up to her birth weight. She weighed 6 pounds even today. And our family doctor says that she is doing just great. Erika got switched to a new blood pressure medication today and it seems to be doing a better job. However, we do not believe there will be anymore frantic trips to the hospital anytime soon.

I worked hard to save my vacation time for the next 3 weeks. However, I may have to cut some of that vacation short. I just made a list of work I need to complete by years end and it’s got 9 items and I’m certainly not going to have it done by noon tomorrow. Ugghh! Good thing Lindsay and Darcy are here to give a hand.

We should have family here from now until the day after Christmas, then we’ll be on our own for a while. With all that family coming and going, you can expect lots more stories and posts in the coming days. Check back often!
