Getting ready for Christmas

If there’s one thing Erika loves, it’s putting up our Christmas tree with all the lights and ornaments. If it’s Erika’s favorite, Mira can’t be too far behind. We decided to setup the tree late on a week night and we let Mira stay up and decorate with us. She was super stoked and would pick up an ornament, “Can I put this one on the tree?”

Yes Mira.

Then she’d grab another one, “Can I put this one on the tree.”

Yes Mira.

And it went on and on until I decided to make a game of it. Not sure if you remember the Mockingbird scene from the movie “Dumb and Dumber” where they saw the hitch hikers and said, “Pick em up!” So every time Mira would ask, “Can I put this one on the tree?” We’d reply, “Put it up!” It may sound a bit dull, but it was funny as all get out that night. Here’s Mira in her jammies decorating the tree.

Put it up!

And Erika decided to do our Christmas card theme with pics from the back deck. If you are one of the select 2000+ people that we send a Christmas card to, this may look familiar.

And of course, Luna Buna got a nice pic too.

Seasons Greetings!

Luna opened her birthday presents and got this super sweet pink car from Erika’s friend Keeley. She has lived on that car since the day she got it. This shot was like 5 minutes after we gave it too her. It was like she knew exactly what to do with it.

Lovin Life!

And we had an anniversary in December. 8 wonderful years of marriage. Mira’s old teacher from Ohio decided to come and visit with the girls and watch them for the weekend. That’s right, we had a babysitter cross state borders to see the girls. They are something else, I can tell you that. The bad part was that both Erika and Mira got the flu something fierce the day before we left. Mira kept waking up yakking all over her bed. I felt bad, but we had tickets to the MSU game and a hotel room. So, Erika braved the game and then slept in the hotel for the night. Not exactly romantic, I ate takeout alone and watched some TV in the room. At least Erika got some piece and quiet while Salerno was on puke duty back at the house. We felt terrible, but Erika wouldn’t have been much help if she’d have been there. She was really, really sick. Miss Lerno tells me that she did have some fun with Mira. Here they are reading books.

Happy girls

And as Christmas was fast approaching, Erika and Mira decided to make cookies a few days before we left for Christmas in Manistee. They made several dozen cookies. Watching a 4 year old make cookies is a lot like a 4 year old doing anything. The first 15 minutes is exciting and after that, they are off doing something else and could care less about your plight. I think Erika ran out of steam after the first 4 dozen. That’s all right, maybe I’ll get more cookies for other holidays this year! And it’s not like I’m gonna start baking cookies. I did clean up!

Making Cookies!

Yes, it was a good night and the girls were ready for Christmas which was only a few days away. Up next, Christmas in Manistee!
