Erika’s sister had her baby and we were able to finally able to meet Deacon Xavier Keefe. Excitement was everywhere in the Mitchell house. Mira could hardly contain her enthusiasm:
Little Luna was even curious about what was going on!
Erika was probably more pumped than anyone (aside from mom and dad). But here is beaming Aunti Erika with little Deacon.
A week or so later, we were back in Muskegon for cousin Darcy’s 2nd birthday party. Darcy had a musical theme and her music teacher even did her normal class routine with all the kids. Mira and Luna really got into the action. I hate to say it, but I think the long balloons were as big a hit as anything. Mira realized that you could put your finger in one end and push. If you let go fast enough then the balloon would fly out. It was pretty humorous!
We gave Luna a balloon, but she wasn’t quite as interested as Mira. However, she did have a ton of fun with her Pops.
Then it was music time. I’m not sure how this happened, but Mira grabbed the loudest instrument she could find and just wailed away. I’m not sure how you can have two children that are so different from one another, but we do.
You know, looking at this picture, I’m shocked at how big Mira looks. I suppose it’s just the angle, but it’s like looking into a window of Mira at 6 or 7 and here’s who she is going to be. She’s her own little girl with hopes and dreams and aspirations all her own. We’ve even started to notice her getting more assertive and developing a personality all her own with the kids in daycare and friends. People always talk about how fast they grow, but Mira has never felt that way to me. Great little girl.
And a party wouldn’t be a party without the blowing of the candles. Thus I was able to snap the candle blowing just as Darcy blew hers out. Great shot of Lindsay and Alex with little Darcy.
Up next, Luna turns 1!
